MAC: Prep + Prime Lip

When I have off days from my job I like to play in makeup. These are typically the days I test new products and rediscover old favorites. Yesterday was no different. I ordered new eyeshadows from ColourPop last week and I was thrilled try them out. Also, I am getting tanner by the day so I am trying to figure which foundations/BB creams still work for me.

I sat at my vanity and created and simple look for the day. Mauve colors on the lids with warm browns in the crease. I went through my lipstick drawers in search for a bold lip. I hadn’t worn a MAC liquid lipstick in awhile so I settled on the shade “High Heels”-it’s a limited edition shade from the Newton Helmut collaboration. This shade is a bright red which I love! I wanted to tone it down a bit so, I lined it with MAC’s “Cyber World” lip liner.

First, before I even applied lipstick I used MAC’s Prep + Prime lip. I always use this lip primer before I apply any of MAC’s liquid lipsticks. Strangely enough I do not use this primer with any other lipsticks; not even MAC’s normal lipstick bullets. This primer is suppose add moisture to the lips while reduce feathering of lipsticks. I definitely find this to be true alongside the fact that it adds to the longevity of your lipstick.

I finished my makeup by 1:00 pm yesterday afternoon. I ran errands all day and didn’t have to touch my makeup once. Seriously, I had a trenta “Strawberry-Acai” refresher after I went to the cleaners. A slice of cool cake after walking around the mall. At 6:22 pm I ate hot wings for dinner. After 7:00pm we followed dinner with eating frozen custard under the shade. My lipstick lasted through it all! I have to give the props to this lip primer. Liquid lipsticks are known to last longer than regular lipsticks but, usually separate once you eat something greasy. Must I repeat it lasted through hot wings?

After yesterday this lip primer will be a staple. I have definitely been sleeping on it’s magically powers and I will use it with all my lipsticks now. No more carrying around my lipsticks. MAC’s Prep + Prime Lip retails for $17.50 and it’s totally worth it if you lipstick the regular. I suggest you buy yours today. If you have used this product before please comment down below!

Boscia: White Charcoal Mattifying MakeUp Setting Spray

I literally just got done working an 11-hour shift for the second time this week. I’ve been up all night and although I’d like to sleep; it’s just not happening soon enough. So I figured I would talk to you as I wind down. Summer is quickly approaching and I think it’s harder to preserve your glam during hotter days. With this being said many of us go an extra mile just to add longevity to our makeup. This is where actual setting sprays become a must and I am not talking about Fix +.

Last month I picked up a travel size of Boscia’s “White Charcoal Mattifying MakeUp Setting Spray”. If you’ve read a few of my posts before; you’re probably wondering why I’d own such a product because I have dry skin. Honestly, Tarte has this amazing foundation-“Empowered Hybrid Gel Foundation”- that simply makes me too dewy. Regardless of how much or little I apply; it always seems go left and I look greasy. I’ve also tried setting the foundation with different powders. It did not make a difference! So I put this spray to the ultimate test to see if it would solve my problem and not cause breakouts in the process.

The “White Charcoal Mattifying Makeup Setting Spray” in full size(5.07 oz) retails for $38.00. The travel size(1 oz) retails for $12.00. I bought mines at Sephora! Boscia claims this spray not only sets your makeup but, minimizes pores and keeps skin hydrated while being matte. I cannot attest to it minimizing because I didn’t notice a difference. However, my skin felt hydrated and I didn’t look like an oily mess. Boscia states it can be used before and after applying makeup. I only used it after application to set. But, if you actually have oily skin this may work in your favor. I used this product when I attended an outdoor wedding. My makeup lasted the whole night without a single touch-up and although I was sweaty; I did not look like it. I’d recommend this setting spray to anyone who want to preserve a face during the summer months. I do not think this product would ideal for dry skin in the winter.

Also, please shake this product well before using. If not it will leave white spots all over you. Picture dried up toothpaste on your face. I kid you not it is the same effect and it’s not flattering Sis! Comment down below if you have used this product before. I’ve love to hear for you!

May Beauty Favorites

Hello world! Another month has come and gone and summer is near. May was a month full of lessons for me. I am trying to transition to YouTube! All of May I collected equipment to finally make my debut. So, once again I must apologize for my absence. But I am definitely back and I have several topics to discuss in the near future so stay tuned! Without further ado let’s begin with my favorite products for the month of May.

1. MAC Fix +

For the month of May; I found myself wanting to look dewy and fresh. Fix + has saved the day several times. I’ve used it before and after makeup application. It definitely takes away the powdery look and gives my skin a natural sheen. Fix + has an array of different things you can use it for. I definitely suggest you picking up a bottle for the summer!

2. MAC Extra Dimension Blush

MAC released a brand new formula for blush in April. These blushes were apart of the “Extra Dimension” line along with 3 Extra Dimension Skinfinishes. I love the formula and wear of these blushes. Also they can act as a blush topper or highlighter as well. I have them in 2 shades-“Hard to Get” and “Wrapped Candy”. But “Wrapped Candy” is definitely my favorite. MAC describes it as a “plum” but in my eyes it is pink. These blushes are permanent so I am not in a rush to get them all. But, I don’t think I will buy too many more due to some colors almost look identical upon swatching. Either way they are bomb and there’s a color for everyone! They retail for $28.00.

Trader Joes Enrich Moisturizing Face Lotion

I am still on the road to better skin! I am slowing realizing that I need a facial moisturizer with sunscreen in it to protect my face. I don’t want wrinkles or any extra signs of aging. So, besides drinking water I need some sunscreen. Thanks to Vogue Magazine I discovered this lotion last summer but, really started putting it into effect this month. I squirt a nickel-sized drop into my palm and add two drops of Argan oil. I add oil because I personally think it spreads better on my face. Also, I have dry skin so it seals in the moisture. If you are like me; I suggest you head over to Trader Joes. This lotion was rather inexpensive.

Philosophy Mircodelivery Exfoliating Wash

I bought this during Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty and I fell in love. I used this product twice a week to exfoliate and my skin always feels so smooth after. This scrub is very gentle for the skin; like all of the rest of Philosophy’s products. If you are in the market for a new facial scrub try this one.

MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish

As I stated earlier MAC made the Extra Dimension Line permanent. They re-released some old shades of the Extra Dimension Skinfinishes. “Superb” and “Oh Darling” were cult favorites and everyone begged MAC to make them permanent. MAC answered those long awaited prayers and they are here to stay along with “Glow With It”-a new shade MAC created. I have been using “Superb” literally every time I do my makeup. It is a subtle glow but, can be built up to blind traffic if needed. I say these are worth a trip to your MAC counter. They retail for $33.00.

This concludes my May beauty favorites. Share your thoughts down below if you have tried any of these products. Or tell me what were you beauty favorites for the month of May. Until next time.

April Beauty Favorites

Hi loves! Today is the first day of May and once another month has flew by. With that being said it’s time to share my April favorites! I am super proud of myself for getting this done on time this month. April was a month of amazing beauty deals with Ulta’s “21 days of Beauty”. They also had a 20% off everything coupon circling around too. Sephora also launched their spring (15% off) VIB sale. I made many purchases throughout the month. I also tried a few new products and also rediscovered some ol’ faithfuls. Without further ado let’s begin!

Murad- Essential C Cleanser

I spoke about this amazing cleanser in my “21 Days of Beauty Roundup”. I have been using this cleasner nonstop since I bought it. It is a simple cleanser that awakes my senses with a citrus scent. It has mircobeads but, this cleanser is gentle enough to be used along with my Clarisonic. I use this day and night and it leaves my skin feeling smooth. This will be a product that i’ll continue to repurchase.

Pur- Miracle Mist

This was another item I bought during Ulta’s “21 Days of Beauty” sale. It was a hot buy on sale for $13 and I decided why not? I have seen several people on YouTube use this as a setting spray. But this is not like your typical setting spray. It feels more like an oil instead of the water like mist of MAC’s “Fix +”. I did not feel like it extended the longevity of my makeup. Pur actually says it’s a hydrating spray and I’d agree. I do have dry skin so, this is something I’d use just to give my face moisture after wearing a full face for awhile.

Sephora- 8HR Wear Perfect Cover Concealer

I stumbled across this concealer on sale at my local Sephora. I was intrigued by it since I’ve never tried any of Sephora’s complexion products. I bought the shades “31 Medium” and “38 Tan”. Originally I had in mind to use these to highlight and concealer blemishes. But after opening it up I decided this would best to use for my eyebrows. This concealer is rather thick which is why I decided to use it to clean up my eyebrows. If I am not mistaken this product is being discontinued which, is why it was marked down. I recently bought another one. THANK GOD!

Anastasia Beverly Hills- Clear Brow Gel

I have been using Anastasia’s “Clear Brow Gel” for years. I recently ventured out and tried another brand but I ran right back. This gel is like glue for the brows. Literally not a single hair will move once applied. I will never try another brow gel again.

Black Radiance- BB Cream

Last summer I gave Black Radiance’s BB Cream a try. I love BB creams! They give me the perfect amount of coverage and are very lightweight. This was no exception and it’s retailed at $4.99! I came across this BB cream while organizing my makeup and decided to use it. I have fallen in love all over again. This will definitely be a staple product for me during the summer months. I use the shade “8917 Cafe” but, right now it may be a tinge too dark. So, I may have to order another one in a lighter shade. Unfortunately, Black Radiance is not sold in any stores near me. Therefore, I have to order in online or wait until I go to a bigger city to purchase.

Black Radiance- Pressed Powder

I have been on the hunt for a great bronzer all April long. I thought I was going to buy one from Sephora but, they had none in stock dark enough for me to swatch or order. Most of them blended in with my complexion and the few that were deep enough ran too red. I finally swatched this pressed powder and it was a nice subtle wash of warmth. I know it’s not advertised as a bronzer but, that’s what I’ve been using it for. I use the shade “8615 Ebony”; so far it’s been heaven sent! Please comment down below your favorite bronzers for darker complexions-for reference I am NC50 in MAC foundation.

Relvon- PhotoReady Eye Art

I think this is a dupe for Stila’s “Magnificent Metals”. I bought one shade and somehow ended up with almost all the shades. I am addicted to these due to the endless possibilities. I plan on doing a review on these so I won’t so too much more but, run out and go get some!

This concludes my favorites for April! Thank you so much for reading. Please comment down below with your favorites or if you’ve tried any of these products.

Ulta’s 21 Days Of Beauty Roundup

One of my favorite things about Ulta is their 21 days of beauty! This sale typically happens twice a year-like Sephora’s VIB event. If you are not familiar with Ulta’s 21 days of beauty; it is basically 21 days of one-day only deals. Everyday different items are on sale for up to 50% off. The items selected are mostly from the higher end spectrum of makeup and skincare-like urban decay, tarte, murad and Clinique.

Alongside these daily deals there are “hot buys” that are pretty awesome as well and these items are on sale for the entire 21 days. So you have practically a month to debate if you want the item or not rather than 24 hours. Hot buys are offered more than just around this beauty sale. But I feel like they are tremendously better during this sale verses everyday.

Ulta’s 21 days of beauty began March 19th and ended on April 8th! I picked up several items from this sale and my last package just arrived. Most of the items are brand new to me. I decided now would be the time for me to give them a try for the discounted price. So without further ado let’s begin!

Philosophy- The Mircodelivery Exfoliating Wash

I had been trying to get my hands on this for forever. Each time it’s been offered during 21 days of beauty I’ve missed it. I actually wanted to get a tarte blush too but, I didn’t get to swatch them in store; therefore I was unsure on which color. Anyway the Mircodelivery Exfoilating Wash retails for $28 and during the sale it was $14! I was a little skeptical about this product because I’m not really a fan of the Purity wash-I don’t hate the Purity wash it’s just very simple. However I love The Microdelivery Exfoilating Wash. This product is a gentle scrub; that doesn’t leave my face feeling dry or tight after washing. I do not use this product with my Clarisonic. I can see the textured areas of my face clearing up.

Becca- Backlight Priming Filter

I haven’t tried anything from Becca outside of their highlighters. Normally this primer retails for $38 and it was discounted to $19. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it so I decided to buy it. This is a very luminous primer. I tried it with a couple different foundations and decided for me it’s best to pair it with a more matte foundation. I do have dry skin however if I use it with a dewy foundation I end up looking like a sweaty mess! Overall I like this primer.

Murad- Essential Cleasner

I have not tried a single thing from Murad before. I think the main reason why I haven’t is because of the price tag. This Essential Cleanser retails for $38 and was on sale for $19. $38 is a lot of money to me for cleanser. Especially if I am unsure on how it will perform. I’ve been using this cleanser every day since I’ve bought it and I love it. I use it everyday with my Clarisonic. I feel like it gives my face a deep cleanse. It also has a citrus scent that awakes my senses. I’d definitely purchase this regardless of the price.

Mario Badescu

I’ve tried a few things from Mario Badescu before. Unfortunately, I ended up gifting all of those products away to family members. None of them worked for me! I decided it was time for me to give it a go again since they were all 25% off. I think Mario Badescu products are relatively affordable but not necessarily drugstore prices. I’ve been in need of a toner so after reading a few product descriptions I placed the “Alpha Grapefruit Cleansing Lotion” in my cart. I’ve only been using it for couple weeks and I’ve noticed no change. So I will continue to use it for at least another month before I come to a final conclusion.

I also bought the “Cleansing Milk with Carnation & Rice Oil” cleanser. I figured this would be good to use in the morning. Since I do have dry, sensitive skin I don’t want to keep taking my face through rigorous cleansing. Especially if I’ve had a late night and washed my face at midnight before bed; then waking it again at 5am before I go to work. This cleansing milk is applied to a dry face in circular motions and wiped off with a damp towel. So far I’ve been enjoying it.

The last product I bought from this brand was the “Facial Spray With Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea”. Many people raved about the Rosewater one but the Cucumber spray definitely takes the cake. I use this to refresh my face if it feels dry and I like it. Definitely will repurchase it.

Tarte- Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Highlighter

I bought this highlighter in the shade “Sparkler Highlight”. The glow is gives it rather subtle. Tarte describes it as a rose gold but I beg to differ. It’s definitely pulls more of a true gold on my complexion. The consistency is similar to the highlighters in the Tarteist Pro Glow Palette. It’s normally retails for $28 and it was on sale for $14.

Anastasia Beverly Hills- Brow Wiz

Who has not tried the Brow Wiz before? Nobody-lol! I love the Brow Wiz to shape and fill in my brows. It retails for $21 but, it was on sale for $10.50-I bought three! This was a complete steal! I use the shade chocolate and I bought one in the shade soft brown so test out. I hate the brow definer-it’s just too thick and I struggle being precise.

After going into Ulta like everyday; I did pick up some of the hot buys. Bare Minerals “Matte Liquid Lipcolor” was on sale for $12. I bought 5 shades-Icon, Slay, Bo$$, Scandal, and Swank. These were apart of the Gen Nude collection and sense they are all nudes it no need for me to have them all. Tarte “Comfidence Creamy Powder Foundation” was on sale for $21. Tarte “Empowered Hybrid Gel Foundation” was on sale for $27.50. I got both the powder and the gel foundation in the shade “Deep Honey”. I got my hands on the Tarte “Maracuja Oil” for $25. Pur’s “Miracle Mist” was on sale for $13. Lastly, I purchased Laura Geller’s “Spackle Supercharged Primer” for $19.

Whew! That was a very long list. If you made it to the end thank you so much for reading. If you tried any of these products or shopped during 21 days of beauty comment down below.

February & March Beauty Favorites

Hi there! I know its been like three weeks since my last post and I apologize. I have been working on a schedule for my posts and sorting out my blog ideas. Nevertheless, I am back now and ready to share my favorites! I did not post a monthly beauty favorites for February because I did not try too many new things. I only ended up obsessing over two items so I’ll begin with those and then carry on with my favorites for March.

Urban Decay: Vice Lip Palettes

I stumbled across the “Blackmail” Vice lip palette at my local Ulta one day. There happens to be two versions of these lip palettes-Blackmail and Junkie. They were originally apart of Urban Decay’s fall/holiday collection. But by the time I got my hands on them Christmas had came went so, these gems had been marked down to $20.00. Which made it a steal because they were orginally $35.00! Each palette is composed of a dozen lipstick shades from Urban Decay’s extensive lipstick range. I think the concept is amazing and is ideal for travel. Each lipstick in the palette is pigmented and performs just as amazing as the original bullets. A lip brush is also provided in each palette. Next time I travel this will definitely be in tow. I do have both palettes but “Blackmail” is my favorite of the two. It just had more wearable shades for everyday and I can get more use out of this one.

MAC- Glitter

In February I was obsessed with glitter cut creases. I had envisioned a glitter cut crease using red glitter for Valentine’s Day. Unfortunately, I could never get my hands on red glitter in time. So I had to settle for what I had in my collection. During the holiday season I purchased a MAC holiday set that housed three pigments and a glitter. The glitter was a copper shade so I attempted my cut creases with that. I think it turned out rather lovely and was definitely more wearable than the red would’ve been. The quality of this glitter was amazing and I am contemplating but more glitter from MAC.

Urban Decay- All Nighter Setting Spray

In March I finally invested in a setting spray. I do own a bottle of fix + which is normally what I’d use to set. But Fix + is not a setting spray; It is a multipurpose spray. Although many people use it to set makeup; it does not assist in the longevity of your makeup lasting. I find that after setting with the “All Nighter Spray” my makeup stays in place and doesn’t budge. I will continue to purchase this item when I run out.

Anstasia Beverly Hills- Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit

This was my most used highlighter in March. I simply could not put it down. The quality of this glow kit is hands down amazing. I usually cocktail the shades to create a glow of my own! My favorites shades to date are “Forever Lit” and “143”! Believe it or not “Forever Lit” is more wearable for tan and brown girls than you may think! I did a full review on this palette already. To see swatches and my thoughts is full detail click here—->

Tarte- Shape Tape

I have jumped on the “Shape Tape” bandwagon! It is seriously my favorite concealer right now. It is very full coverage and trust me a little goes a long way. I only use one dot under each eye and blend it out with a damp beauty blender. Because using too much can become hard to blend out. It really brightens under my eye which what I was looking for in a concealer. I was using MAC’s “Prolongwear” before I grabbed this and it just wasn’t brighter enough. I use the shade “Tan Sand”!

Morphe- E8 Detail Contour Brush

I’ve owned this brush for awhile and I was only using it for contouring with creams. But recently I’ve been using it to blend out my foundation. This is a tip I got from Jaclyn Hill-a well known beauty guru from YouTube. She raved about it in one or her more recent videos.  Using a smaller brush gives me more control during the blending process. I feel like I get a more airbrushed look regardless of the foundation I use. For the month of March I rarely found myself reaching for another brush. The E8 retails for $5.99 and can be found on the Morphe website!

Carol’s Daughter- Almond Milk Restoring Conditioner

This is another product that I’ve owned for some time but, I wasn’t giving it consistent use. I have natural hair and I co-wash every other day. This conditioner has been my go to all of March and my bottle is practically empty. It makes my hair so soft and manageable. Detangling my hair in the shower is breeze. I happen to be a victim of heat damaged so I was drawn to this product due to the claims. And I can honestly see some of my curls being restored. Plus this conditioner smells amazing and the scent lingers days after washing. The Almond Milk by Carol’s Daughter line has a shampoo, conditioner and a hair mask. I bought mines at my local Target!

Trader Joes- Nourish All-In-One Facial Cleasner

I was introduced to this product by Vogue Magazine. I get Vogue every month and I also get emails from their website. One of the emails they sent me had a list of Trader Joes’ products. Basically like a list of beauty hidden gems. I practically bought everything on the list and I’ve been using products here and there. But lately since I’ve been on a path to better skin; I figured it was time to try this out. This facial Cleasner is suppose to be simple and gentle. But it exfoliates, tones and is full of antioxidants. I use one pump of product until my Clarisonic and go to work. I find that my face isn’t irritated or dry out after cleansing! I will continue to purchase this after I run out.

That concludes my beauty favorites for the month and February and March. Once again I apologize for my absence and delay. If you have tried any of these products let me know in the comments!

NYX: Lingerie Liquid Lipstick

Yesterday I did another aimless walk through the aisles of Ulta. I stumbled across the Nyx Lingerie liquid lipsticks and decided to give them another try. Last year when they first released I bought one in the shade “Teddy”.  Unfortunately, it was way too dark and cool toned for my liking. It literally made my lips look like I’ve been smoking since age 5. I was immediately turned off and never reached for it again.

This time I purchased the shade “French Maid” with high hopes of redemption. In the tube it appeared to be a mauvey shade but upon application it pulled more purple-which I do not mind. Thankfully, no liner was necessary and it is quite wearable. The liquid lipstick wand has a flat doe foot applicator; which made application super easy and gave the perfect amount of product. I put this lipstick to the ultimate test and wore it to work. I worked 9 hour shift and this lipstick didn’t budge once. I ate leftover slices of pizza for lunch and had several drinks throughout the shift. I couldn’t believe it! For this liquid lipstick to only cost 6.99; the formula is simply amazing! I am definitely tempted to buy more.

These give you everything one could ever desire from a liquid lipstick. They dry down to a matte finish and the formula isn’t too drying. Not to mention they can be found a your local Ulta and Target. I feel like the Lingerie collection is full of nudes, minus a few shades, but there’s definitely one for everyone! I prefer these over Nyx “Liquid Suede” lipsticks because they actually dry down matte. Leave a comment down before if you’ve tried these.
